Good points: The WD420 looks very modern and is fairly quiet and the washing cycle is quick.
Bad points: Usability is poor. The machine forgets its options such as quick wash when you switch it off but more annoyingly the programme dial doesn't move around when you do a wash. This means if you do a wash and dry and then want to give it an extra half hour dry you have to remember to change the programme to Dry only otherwise it starts a wash again. This doesn't happen with most washer/driers as the wash programme dial will have rotated to end. Drives ME mad anyway!

Good points: Does the job needed at low purchase price.
Bad points: Noisy on spin with some vibration. Cycle time longer than previous model which I assume is due to only cold water input.

Good points: The WD420 is fairly easy to use.
Bad points: Difficult to know how much is left on the cycle. One circuit board has already had to be changed (October 2006).

Good points: Quite quiet and easy to programme. Good spin cycle.
Bad points: Dials not child proof, my 1 year old can change the program. No time indicator for dryer, need to check time started to have any idea of when it will finish. Generally very pleased.

Good points: Hotpoint WD420 ease of use, washes and dries in one cycle - what I wanted.
Bad points: CREASES everything even my non iron expensive linen and clothes. Very deep permanent creases I have tried all sort of thing - nothing helps Increases ironing time by 150%.

Good points: Quick wash & 60 degree wash are very quick and effecient... time saver does make time of other washes better.
Bad points: Final spin can on occasion be noisy, but not very often; it depends on the weight of the load. Good purchase, very pleased with WD420!.

Good points: Not 100% happy with the wash, would prefer to be able to tumble dry clothes for less than 30 minutes minimum (can but says will reduce the life of the washer). Cycle times are long and I found the instruction booklet a bit confusing..
Bad points: Don't know if all the washers out currently are about the same, but in hind sight I wouldn't buy this machine again.

Bad points: I have no bad comments to say. The only thing I had a problem with was getting used to the tumble dryer.

Good points: Fast and not too noisy. Washes well.
Bad points: The WD420 takes a long time to dry. It is too easy to switch on the cycle again when you have just finished washing/drying, because the start/cancel button is easily knocked. Overall good value..

Good points: The Hotpoint WD420 machine washes clothes very clean and good for drying.
Bad points: The WD420 washing cicle is very long it's good value for money, bit complecated, when useing the dry, but when you get use to the buttons it's ok.

Good points: Good size load, plus dryer works really well - much better than the previous version of this model. Quiet,.
Bad points: The 40 degree cycle is quite long. Good washer/ dryer & excellent for family use- ours goes on almost daily.

Good points: Good selection of programmes. High spin speed, good dryer.
Bad points: Standard 40 degree non-fast colour cotton programme is neary 2 hours long! Can be noisy on spin..

Good points: Efficient machine, easy to set up.
Bad points: The dryer if used to dry clothes completely creases them to an extent that even after ironing the creases still show. Good value machine.

Good points: Lots of cycles to choose from, and an easily read booklet to help you choose! Even does "hand washing" satisfactorily.
Bad points: My "most used" cycles takes 1hr 45 minutes - eeek! Great buy.

Good points: WD420 looks good and was a very good price compared to other makes.
Bad points: It is not that easy to use and I havent even tried the dryer yet and it always needs me to press the buttons more than once before it starts working it has a very noisy spin. I have to use all its functions before I can give you an accurate comment, unfortunately the 1st machine that was dilivered didnt work at all 9I was without a machine for 1 month) so this made me feel very iffy about having another hotpoint, luckily this one seems ok but I am a bit scared of trying the dryer

Good points: So far, this machine has been reliable. It gets a lot of use and have had no major problems.
Bad points: Struggles with wool loads - only manages one heavy jumper at a time. Spin not as efficient as my last machine (ariston, but that broke down alot!) Not bad overall - I say you get what you pay for though and this is bottom end but functional

Bad points: Dryer needs temperature control as it can overdry if not careful Balance not very good on full load tends to be noisy.
